Nigel Costolloe, Owner

Nigel Costolloe is the owner of Catchlight Painting. He learned to paint summers in high school and started his first company after graduate school.  He is active regionally and nationally in the Painting Contractors Association www.pcapainted.org as Executive Director, https://www.pcapainted.org/profile/nigel-costolloe/. He has roots in Australia and England, enjoys a good cup of tea, Monty Python, and considers Vegemite an elixir.

Seth Barrett, RARE Restoration by Catchlight Painting

Founder of RARE Restoration (originally Village Green Renewal, est. 2008), Seth has built a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship and thoughtful historic preservation. A Brookline native, he believes repairing rather than replacing protects a home’s integrity while supporting sustainability and community.

In early 2026, RARE Restoration became RARE Restoration by Catchlight Painting, expanding its services while maintaining the same trusted team, quality, and hands-on approach clients have relied on for more than a decade.

Ian Reeb, Principal Estimator

Ian Reeb serves as Principal Estimator at Catchlight Painting. With a lifetime of experience in the painting trade, Ian has a deep understanding of both craftsmanship and client service. Having grown up on job sites under the mentorship of his father, Ian has been immersed in the industry for as long as he can remember. In 2014, he founded Reeb Fine Painting and Wallpaper Hanging, where he built a reputation for quality, reliability, and technical expertise across residential, commercial, and historical projects.

Dana Studley

Office Manager

I love the work I do in the Catchlight Painting and RARE Restoration office because it allows me to support the team and further the goals of the company. My work feels important and purposeful. Before landing in the field of office work, I was a physical education teacher for 30 years. That work was also very important and purposeful.  In the summer, I run an Aquatics Program where children learn to swim, and families share time together in the sunshine! One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family and my animals. I have cats, dogs, and a pot-bellied pig named Edward!

As an attorney at Ligiris, I’ve been deeply involved in providing professional and legal insight on a wide range of issues that impact small businesses – helping ensure that Catchlight’s best practices truly live up to that standard. Outside of work, I stay busy raising my two sons, competing in adventure races, and even climbing Mt. Washington, while remaining actively engaged in the Brookline charitable community.

Before becoming a painter, I was in the field of computer programming and the owner of a wholesale business. I love to spend time traveling and taking pictures!

I have a great appreciation for old designs and construction methods and believe every object should have at least two lives. In the past I have spent time as a writer/editor and selling vintage clothing. My hobbies include keeping things out of the landfill, reading, tinkering, gardening, and hanging with my dog.

Bookkeeper

The reason I love being a Bookkeeper is that I love bringing order out of chaos. I love helping people realize the value of their business. It is nice to help in a way that most people cannot, and it is satisfying to help businesses be as profitable as they can be. Before starting my own business and connecting with Catchlight Painting, I worked in investment banking.  My hobbies are swimming, walking my dog, reading, home organization, and decorating. I love spending time with my family and playing Bingo!

I love to refinish and restore furniture. It is nice to help old woodwork come back to life. I have always done this sort of work, and I am passionate about it.

I love seeing a space transform with a lot of prep and some crisp lines. In the past, I was a cashier, a pizza maker, a plasterer, a painter, a carpenter, a coach and a counselor. I love collecting cards, fishing, and family time

I love having the opportunity to help customers beautify their homes with color and exceptional finishes. It is my outlet for attention to detail and craftsmanship. In the past, I worked in the field of farming and as a Peace Corps volunteer. I am also an artist. I like working with watercolor and oil paint.

Gilson Tavares

Painter

I love painting because I discovered this profession through my family. My father is a car painter, and my brother is too. Since I was 12 years old, I have helped them by sanding and doing other prep work. I even used to paint my own toy cars! When I was younger, I was often invited by friends to help paint schools as a way to support the community. In my country, I worked as a physical education teacher and also served in the military. My hobbies are spending time with my family, going out for walks or trips, and enjoying good moments with friends.

It’s Huey’s job to remind us all to stop and smell the fire hydrants! He is determined, and passionate about this responsibility.

Catchlight painters adhere to Training Best Practices and Painter Training available through the Painting Contractors Association (PCA), and are subject to drug testing and background checks through the Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) listing.

Catchlight estimates are provided free of charge.

All Catchlight work is guaranteed for three years, inside and out.
