Point of Vieux
Project Summary
This Newton Italianate Victorian captures the curious tension between Puritan simplicity and Italian flourish – a paint-grade staircase made of utilitarian fir and pine, detailed with lack of turned or decorative spindles, is given new life with color and contrast; the elaborately tall double hung windows frame an almost humble fireplace mantel and yet proportions, space and height create a welcome sense of clean design and informality while preserving the simple dignity of a turn of the 1860s Itallianate style.
Beauty is in every detail.
